Effective October 8, 2026
In short: your cookbook stays on your iPhone. Mana has no user accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Only the recipe text, link or photos you choose to import — or a saved recipe you ask to translate or estimate calories for — is sent to our server to be processed, and it is not stored there. A recipe you send to another Mana user is stored until its link expires after 90 days.
This policy explains what the Mana app (“Mana”, “we”) does with your information. Mana is developed by Yaron Ogen.
The following stays on your iPhone and is never uploaded by Mana:
Mana uses a server (hosted by Supabase in the European Union) only for these features:
Apart from recipes you send to another Mana user, our server does not store or log the recipe content you send. Anthropic processes it only to produce the result, under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to use the content to train its models. Like any online service, our hosting provider processes technical data such as your device’s IP address to deliver requests and keep the service secure.
To apply the monthly import allowance and prevent abuse, Mana signs in anonymously: our server creates a random identifier that is not connected to your name, email, Apple ID or device. With it, the server stores how many recipes you imported or translated, and how many calorie estimates were made, in each month. If you enter a tester code in Settings, the server also records that this identifier has tester access. This identifier is kept in your phone’s secure storage.
When an imported recipe has a photo, your phone downloads that photo directly from the recipe’s website, so that website can see your device’s network address, as with any web request.
Mana asks for access to your camera or photo library only when you choose to add a picture to a recipe or to import a recipe from photos. Pictures of your dishes stay on your phone; photos of a recipe you import are sent once to be read, as described above.
Information on your phone stays until you delete it in the app or delete the app. Mana does not back it up, so deleting the app removes your cookbook. The anonymous usage count on our server is kept to apply monthly limits; to have it deleted, email us. Recipes you sent to another Mana user are deleted automatically 90 days after sharing; to have one deleted sooner, email us the link.
Mana is a general-audience cooking app and is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct or delete information about you, or to object to its processing. Because Mana keeps almost everything on your phone, most of this is in your own hands; for anything on our server, contact us below.
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. Important changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
